Punjab government is spending Rs 8 billion on upgrading health facilities, Dr Yasmin

LAHORE [Commerce Reporter] Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Monday directed the department to speed up the work on ongoing projects of primary and secondary health care.

Presiding over a high level meeting, Dr. Yasmin Rashid reviewed the new facilities as well as the renovation of existing facilities.

Dr Yasmin Rashid said: "The government is spending Rs 8 billion on upgrading of primary and secondary level facilities. Improved service delivery at primary and secondary level will be eased and the burden on tertiary care facilities will be reduced. ۔

The Minister directed the Project Management Unit Primary and Secondary Health Care Department to short-list the 15 BHUs for immediate improvement.

In the first phase, work on 40 hospitals is in the final stages, while the remaining 85 hospitals are in phase one. 2 is being equipped with infrastructure, HR and technical facilities.
