India defeated Sri Lanka in the second T20 by beating Indoor by seven wickets. Courtesy batsmen showcased outstanding batting and added valuable contributions during the chase.
The hosts were given the task of pursuing 143 runs which they chased in the 18th over. Skipper Virat Kohli was on the receiving end once again when he scored 30 off 17 deliveries.
Opening duo of KL Rahul (45) and Shakir Dhawan (32) added 71 for the first wicket. Young Shreyas Iyer scored 36 after the departure of Lahiru Kumara. League spinner, Wandu Hisranga took the other two wickets.
Sri Lanka had earlier asked the host team to bat first. The Indian bowlers were right up to the number of wickets at regular intervals. Young Navdeep performed impressively and got two wickets for just 18 runs, making him the best player of the match. Shardal Thakur picked up three wickets. Jasprit Bamrah and Washington Sindhu took one wicket each.
Left-hander Chinamen Kuldeep Yadav was on the high side, but he took two crucial wickets for Oshida Fernando Kossel Pereira (34), scoring the most runs for the visitors.
After the first match washed out due to rain in Guwahati, the two teams will now face Pune.
